Rebecca Vasmant: A stalwart of the Glasgow music scene. We could not think of anyone better to be our guest for our next venture where we jam to afro and latin-infused house, jazz and funk.
In an age increasingly dominated by faceless machine-created sounds, DJ-Producer Rebecca Vasmant is bringing a fresh new twist to dance music with her love of jazz. While promoting her own parties in Glasgow, starting her jazz record label Schiehallion and touring the world for Ministry Of Sound as the only female DJ, her whirlwind schedule has recently fitted in sessions with eight-strong Ghanaian outfit Kakatsitsi, a live fusion show mixing traditional African rhythms with modern dance techniques
Rebecca Vasmant & Kakatsitsi LIVE @ The Carribean Centre Glasgow
As a Producer Rebecca has had releases on labels such as Universal Music, Amour recordings and various others, as well as collaborating with some of the best names in the underground house and techno scene and working on various live Jazz projects under her second alias which will see her name grow even further. She is one of the most cutting-edge DJs around, playing diverse and unpredictable sets with influences coming from many different music genres including Techno, House, Jazz, Soul, Funk, Disco, Brazillian, Samba, Bossa and Folk. She is steadily becoming an established name within the industry securing residencies from early on in her career. We can only expect to see her further push the boundaries of musical creativity.
